In 1992, Tom and Jean Jackson spent one night in Copenhagen on their way back to the US from Ukraine. Seeing the streets bustling with life, Tom was provoked by God and he turned to Jean and said: “We have to plant a church in this city.” The vision stayed alive through more than thirty years of prayer and faith.

In March 2024, through SCOUT2040, the Centrepoint Church staff team from Scotland went to Copenhagen, fueled by Tom’s faith from 1992. When Tom returned, he heard God clearly say: “The time is now.”

Meanwhile, Simmy and Meg had the city of Copenhagen in our hearts. When Meg was in primary school, she played the Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen in a musical. She, like Hans, wanted to go to wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen. When Meg heard that the team from Centrepoint were going to Copenhagen, she was hopeful that God would use her passion for the city in some way.

During the scouting trip, God opened a door for Simmy after the team shared the gospel with a young Danish man in a bar. Simmy spent the rest of the evening talking to him and his friend behind the bar about life in the city, faith and the issue of loneliness in one of Europe’s happiest countries.

Simmy and Meg knew that they had to go back and so went with Tom for another scouting trip in November 2024. The first morning, they prayed and heard God saying: “The time is now. Whom shall I send?” and they responded “Here we are, send us.”

God has confirmed that He is making a way for us in Copenhagen.
